  1. Hi Kevin,

I agree with everything you said and have told many students the same things you’ve mentioned. I would just like to say, however, that the PGA isn’t the only avenue to go for a qualified teacher. I’m a member of the United States Golf Teachers Federation and would like to point out that we are a valid and qualified group of teachers. We have over 8000 members in the U.S. and there are 32 member nations as well. More and more PGA professionals are recognizing the USGTF as a reliable source for instruction at their facilities also. There are PGA members whose instruction is questionable at best, but are amazing golfers and then there are others who can’t break 80 anymore but have an amazing eye for motion and are excellent teachers. I just don’t believe that a particular affiliation is what makes a good teacher, but that the quality of instruction is what people are paying for.

    Thanks for your time,
    Pat Cook

  2. Pat - Agree. As I mention in the post, I think it’s best to ask around for recommendations for a really good teacher in your area. Great teaching pro’s have great reputations - regardless of their affiliation. Thanks for stopping by!
