Watching the stock market over the last couple of weeks reminds me of The Cyclone at Coney Island – dramatic ups and downs, and all the passengers get knocked around a lot. If you’re worried about the relative degree of risk the market presents today, or at any point for that matter, there are a [...]

As each year draws to a close, I find myself in a reflective mood, reviewing how the year went, what I achieved – and didn’t – and my plans for the following year; I imagine many of you do the same thing. I usually have several days off during late December, and take advantage of [...]

As I write this on Sunday morning, it’s difficult to believe that I was playing in a golf tournament a week ago.  It snowed Friday night in The Middle of Nowhere, and this morning the temperature is 27°F. An option is to use an online sniping agent. A veteran eBayer – my first successful bid was in January of 1999 – I’ve used online sniping agent eSnipe for years. For a modest fee, eSnipe enables you to establish and set up your bid days in advance, and will actually place it seconds before the auction’s end (the default setting is 6 seconds). You can change or cancel your bid up to 5 minutes before the auction’s end.

If you’re outbid during the auction, eSnipe will notify you via email. At the auction’s conclusion, you’ll receive an email notifying you of the auction’s closing bid and whether your snipe was successful or not. It’s very simple and in my experience, works flawlessly.

This arrived Thursday afternoon: ooma.  Set-up took about 15 minutes.  My wife called her mom in NY, and the signal was strong and clear.  While they were talking I launched a YouTube video on our desktop PC, with no adverse affects on sound quality/clarity. Thus far, this thing rocks.  I’ll live with it for a [...]
