“I think I stayed there one night!” 2010′s Dirtiest Hotels @ TripAdvisor

I’ve stayed at a few hotels where the carpeting was grimy, the TV didn’t work, or I ran out of hot water while showering, but NOTHING I’ve ever experienced at a hotel comes close to the experiences TripAdvisor members have had at the gems on this list!!

If nothing but for the sheer entertainment value of it all, you really ought to check out TripAdvisor’s Top 10 list of the dirtiest, nastiest hotels the nation has to offer.

Where else will you find user reviews with these sort of comments? (This from #1 on the list) –

In the duration of staying there, one of my teammates almost got in a fight with a hooker, we were nearly accosted by a pimp, referred to as Wood Grain, and met a lovely group of heroin addicts at the continental breakfast. If you want some stories for the ages GO HERE!!!!

Or, how about (#2) –

I`d rather DIE of HEMORRHOIDS, than have to stay here AGAIN!”

Regrettably I had to stay in this crudely managed, shabbily furnished and stingily stocked JOKE of a hotel, after the secretary at work made a reservation for me for a nights stopover during a business trip! All kinds of nastiness smeared on walls; All species of dried substances on the carpets – some of it dried body fluids! A stench that would make a homeless guy who hadn`t washed in a decade GAG! Okay, so the pool looked reasonably well maintained, but I wasn`t gonna let that pool water find its way into my ear canals! If you have a mother-in-law you HATE, then buy her a weeks stay at this [--]!

Ah, talk about wonderful honeymoon memories (#3)…

A member of the staff is a peeping tom! When we checked in, the Manager offered us a free upgrade to the “Honeymoon Suite”. It was a set up. The “Honeymoon Suite” had a vacant room next door that was “under construction”. I was undressed to get into my swimsuit and heard breathing.

Returning for a moment to the #1 dirtiest hotel in America according to the survey, the Heritage Marina Hotel in San Francisco, we read this gem:

We did not take our shoes off in the room for the entire stay, unless in the bath. My son was scared. And there was a prostitute working out of the room next to us. Very loud. Breakfast was takeaway cereal boxes and sometime tea. There were various vagrants in the breakfast room stealing food and the staff didn’t bat an eyelid. We went straight to sleep as soon as we arrived, in our clothes and shoes and straight out the following morning. we stayed out till 11pm as we had an evening trip to Alcatraz and straight to sleep when we went back to that filthy hole of a place.
