I'd add 2 more to the list that compare with the MLC's size
REI Stratocruiser Wheeled Luggage - 18":
http://www.rei.com/product/778738
It has soft sides but a more rigid top so you can pop something heavier on top. I bought one to fill in for a 3-4 day trip + laptop/purse/camera personal bag niche where the 22" is just too big and I'd need to stand around in (security) lines, but light enough to lift over my head. I find the shoulder bags are tiring to stand around in.

Muji Small Bellow
http://www.muji.us/store/bag/bellow-pocket-4-wheel-carry-s.html
I called and was told that it weighs about 4-5 lbs, but I don't have one so can't verify for myself. Still, I've seen it and it is pretty light.

If you're carrying some heavy items or want to get a small wheelie, both are nice. They won't fit under most seats.

Here's another that the US muji site just started carrying http://www.muji.us/store/bag/bellow-pocket-2-wheel-carry-mini-brown-black.html but I'm not fond of how the opening is done.

You know, I have been trying like mad to find the 22" Plat5, with zero luck. the 20" would be pushing it for me, since I am a 46L in the shoulders, and that would seriously cramp a suit or sportcoat (assuming I am not able to wear it on the plane.

I am now strongly considering that Eagle Creek Hovercraft HC2 Duffel in black

Good thing I am not in a hurry.

Somehow I missed this one the first time around. I couldn't recommend the Plat5 series highly enough. I think it is one of the best rollaboards ever made, from the inventor of the concept. I use the 22" model regularly and it is my go-to bag for business trips. I should have bought two. Seriously. Read my review on Obow.

It is also important to note that the Plat5 warranty includes repair or replacement for life even due to airline damage. This is rare and worth real money if you do need to check the bag. For a bag that is only ever in your direct possession it matters less.

The Tutto is a strange beast. I wonder if that makes sense. It's a bit like the Zuca Proroller, which I think makes no sense at all. Basically the Tutto is a soft bag with an exoskeleton. At that point, why not simply use a soft bag with a luggage cart? Lighter even and more versatile.

What about the 21" Black American Tourister with 4 spinner wheels for $59 at Walmart?

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11016164

Anyone tried this 'cheaper' brand?
For the price seems Ok.
Thoughts?

Bob,

Thanks for the clarification. I picked that up somewhere online, but obviously it's inaccurate.
