I had never found a reason to travel with a flashlight. That is until there was the incident on the Channel Tunnel. I had considered purchasing one of the many AAA battery operated ones from Amazon, until I realized there had to be a better/cheaper way. Well, I just went for the cheaper way. I know about using your cell phone as a light, but I have found a simple keychain light to be perfect. You can get them at any tourist spot for under $2 if you are already on the road. The one I have now, I picked up from Dollar Tree and I have already used it numerous times on this trip. I can't say anything better about something I bring than I used it and it worked.

Mark - thanks; their shipping charges are stout, for sure. Not aware of the candlepower forums - will check it out and perhaps provide a link.

Update: AAA Maratac @ CandlePowerForums This is just one thread of many.

Neat light but $8.75 to ship from California to Arizona for an item that weighs 20 grams is a complete ripoff. Quite a few people having defective items over on the candlepower forums.
