2008 Bernier Chardonnay Vins du Pays Jardin de la FranceJust a quick post regarding a recent find:  I tried a bottle of this (found it on K&L Wines for $6.99) and it’s a great daily drinker.

This is no 94 point wine, but it’s entirely enjoyable and very drinkable.  I’d compare it favorably to the Bogle chardonnay, although I prefer this bottle.  Interestingly enough, when I ordered this I also ordered an $18 2008 Kalinda (Napa valley) chard; the Bernier is vastly superior at less than half the price.

A couple of  comments I found via a quick Google search:

From The Independent (UK):

This well-crafted, fresh chardonnay from the Vin de Pays du Jardin de la France, aka the Loire Valley, displays especially good crisp appley flavours and limey acidity for its discounted price, making it a great party dry white to be drunk on its own or with finger food.

From Cellar Tracker:

Really liking this simple light chardonnay. Without buttery malolactic and heavy oak, this wine satisfies as a light quaffer, delicious for summer. Clean palate, not flinty. Very inexpensive.

$6.99 from K&L Wines; screw cap.  I’ve seen it elsewhere for $7-8.  I have no connection to K&L Wines.
