A quick glimpse of some upcoming posts; as always, if there’s something you’d like to see here, please let me know.  That includes neat products you’ve stumbled across, as well.  In any event, in the works:

  • I spent about 6 hours on Sunday working on a review of the redesigned Patagonia MLC; it’ll appear here shortly
  • Greasemonkey:  what the hell is it, and why should I care?
  • A brief (ha! pun intended. I amuse myself.) post about Ex-Officio underwear – here’s a preview:  it’s the best!
  • My review of the redesigned Tom Bihn Absolute Strap
  • Related:  I may do a second shoulder strap comparo, including the new Bihn strap & some others I haven’t reviewed before
  • My name’s Kevin and I’m a bundle packer.  But I did recently order an Eagle Creek Pack It 18…  does it work as well as users claim?
  • A follow-up to a recent post about 20-something job seekers, this one focusing on things most interviewees forget to do
  • A short post about Venere
  • Received an inquiry recently from an outfit that makes tactical gear – I’ll be taking a look at a couple of their bags
  • Hey – I’m not really a hat guy, but I’ve got to get my hands on one of those Tilley hats to check it out.  Are they that good??
  • Gist recently went from a year long private beta to public release and I’ve been playing with it…  a short review
  • I’ve had my Red Oxx Metro for 15 months.  What’s it look like today – has it held up well?  Any issues?  We’ll take a photo tour
  • I’m also looking at a couple of alternatives for purifying water while on the road….   stay tuned

In the meantime, here are a few links of note:

From Lifehacker, a great little list:  The Top 10 Underhyped Webapps, 2009 Edition There’s sure to be something you’ll like on this list.

15 tips for traveling healthy and stress free - @ a site called Consumer Traveler.  I will excuse the reference to roller bags; some good, basic tips here.

Wow:  Ten Romantic Getaways To Fall In Love (With) at OpenTravel.com  This one will get you plotting on how to get to one of these spots…   beautiful!

Some lunatic over at Instructables.com figured out how to put a “garage door open indicator” in his bedroom.  A rather straightforward version of my recent post – no references to my wife, crawling around the attic, and so forth…

Finally, another fascinating TED talk, this one from neurologist Oliver Sacks, author of The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, and Awakenings.  In this talk he speaks of what hallucinations can reveal about how our minds work; Sacks is an excellent storyteller – I think you’ll enjoy it…

  1. re: Tilley hats, yes, they are that good. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. I’ve got 3 in various models / materials.

  2. Looking forward to the review of the Bihn Absolute strap. If you do the shoulder strap comparison I would love to see Bihn Absolute vs Op Tech version and RedOxx vs Bihn vs direct from Quake versions of the Claw/TerraGrip strap. Quake sells versions in colors if you want to match your bag.

I’m also interested in the EC 18″ folder review. There was a recent discussion of bundle packing compared to EC folders on OBOW: http://onebagger.squarespace.c.....ost/878417

I’ve got a few straps lined up already… Have you seen the earlier comparo? The Terragrip didn’t fare well — grippy as all get out, but in testing it wouldn’t flex at all. The nice thing about the Op Tech / Absolute strap is that it “gives” as you walk, making the load seem not quite as heavy as it is. Thanks for commenting!

  3. Recently installed greasemonkey but have not started using it. Look forward to your post. Sacks does tell a good story.
