I wish raveable had existed several years ago when I was picking a hotel for a weekend getaway to New Orleans. A hotel which a guidebook had described as “charming” and “quaint” featured rooms that were tiny and tired, and a staff for which snottiness seemed to be a hiring requirement. Raveable would have made it easy to avoid any stinkers.
Founded by two former Microsoft execs, raveable gives you access to thousands of hotel reviews with just a few keystrokes and a single click. From Philip Vaughn, Co-Founder and CEO:
We developed patent-pending software that semantically analyzes hotel reviews for positive and negative opinions about individual hotel features.

Raveable features over 30 million opinions on 55,000 U.S. hotels and resorts; International destinations will be added shortly. If you’ve used raveable or similar sites, please comment! Check out raveable here: raveable: hotel reviews without extra baggage

Only thing I worry about, is my suspicion that the travel industry reviews are riddled with self-written reviews posing as travelers….

I checked out the site for my hometown. I honestly didn’t find it all that helpful. I actually prefer professional reviews from a source I trust. Individual reviews aren’t that useful because I don’t know what the reviewer values. I like Zagat and use it on my iPhone. The write ups are brief and jive well with my own experience.

Interesting…. I hope several readers will try it out for hotels with which they’re familiar, and let us know what they think. Thanks for your comment!

@Kevin
Thanks for your post. I am glad you find the site useful and recommended it to your readers. We welcome any feedback you and your readers might have on raveable as we always looking to improve.
@Michael
You have all the right to be skeptical. There’s a lot of skepticism about Wikipedia too, yet it is extremely useful.
@FromWithin
There is a place for professional reviews today and will always be. User reviews are more recent and more reflective of the diverse consumer base. There is no “one size fits all” and there is no one review that matches all consumer values or interests.
Thanks,
