I mention specific products and brands fairly often on Practical Hacks, and want to make certain you understand my stance regarding advertising, sponsorships, and paid posts…
- I have no sponsorship relationship with any of the companies and products mentioned on Practical Hacks. If I ever develop such a relationship, I’ll clearly disclose it.
- I have never - nor will I ever - accept payment for posts on Practical Hacks
- When I enthusiastically mention a product on this blog, my enthusiasm stems from my genuine appreciation of the product and company, and nothing else.
- Were I to receive a product from a manufacturer in order that I might review it here, I would clearly state that fact up front. …and if I didn’t care for the product or felt it had shortcomings, I’d say so without hesitation.
- The only ads which appear on Practical Hacks are from Google Adsense and Chitika. (The Chitika ads only appear when someone comes to the site via Google.) I will occasionally experiment with different ad formats.
Why spell this out?
Simple: As I sometimes mention products by name on this blog, I thought it’d be wise to make sure that you understand exactly where I stand on this issue. I value the trust which exists between my readers and myself, and don’t want to do anything that might damage that trust.
I’ve made a commitment to this blog. I’m in it for the long term. Practical Hacks isn’t about cashing in or selling out - it’s about sharing things I know, things I’m learning about, and things I enjoy. My hope is that you’ll find information here that’ll help you enjoy life a bit more.
That conversation and that relationship are what matters, not my somehow turning a quick buck; in the final analysis, it’s about communication, values, and trust.
