“Just the necessities” by un4gtableann
A buddy and I are riding our bikes up to Custer, SD this Friday to visit the Crazy Horse Memorial. Once a year the folks responsible for the Memorial allow visitors to hike up the mountain (the annual Volksmarch) and see the sculpture’s progress up close.
Here’s an image of hike participants gathered at the top of the memorial during a previous Volksmarch:

In any event, we’ll ride our Harleys to Custer SD on Friday, participate in the Volksmarch on Saturday, and make our way back home on Sunday after visiting my friend’s hometown – Winner, SD – Saturday evening.
Preparing for the trip reminded me of a terrific, customizable packing list template I once stumbled upon on the internet. The checklist template contains a number of suggestions for items to include as well as “blanks” which you can fill in to meet your needs. (The suggested items can be included or deleted from the list by checking or unchecking a box next to each.) In actual practice it’s quite slick and only takes a matter of moments…
Whether you’re camping, bicycling, going abroad, or traveling by car,- any type of trip, really – you can create a customized checklist in a matter of seconds. To create your own checklist, simply click on this link. Here’s a screenshot of an excerpt of the checklist I created this evening (you can of course change the heading as well):

Once you’ve created your checklist you can easily print it. You can also save the file to your hard drive so you won’t have to regenerate it each time.
Give it a try – it’s a handy way to make sure you pack every essential item for your trip. One last tip – bring the list with you on your trip, and make note of anything you forgot. That way you can produce an even better packing list for your next trip!
Finally, if you’d like more information about the Crazy Horse Memorial, the world’s largest mountain sculpture, click on this link.
