Musicovery is a neat web radio site which lets you discover new music depending upon how you’re feeling and what genres you’re interested in. In addition you can restrict Musicovery to certain decades - if you’re into blues, for instance, you can restrict it to recent decades if you prefer contemporary blues.

You can begin trying it out without registering ; however If you choose to register, you can identify songs as favorites or ban songs you don’t care for from play in the future.

After selecting your genre(s) and your preference in terms of mood and tempo, a sort of web which looks vaguely like an atomic structure launches. You can sample songs if you wish, or just let them play in the order Musicovery selects. There are links from each song to Amazon.com, iTunes, and eBay should you want to purchase the album the song you’ve selected is from. By left clicking on the screen you can drag it around to see more choices.

Different genres are denoted by their colors. In the sample below I’ve selected blues from all eras:

The free version of Musicovery allows you to identify favorites and ban songs you don’t like, and the sound quality is “Lo-Fi;” for $4 a month you get Hi-Fi sound, no ads (I’ve cropped them out of the image above) and you can go directly to your favorite songs.

The interface is slick and entertaining. Note that there is virtually no documentation - you’ve got to just poke around on your own, but it’s a great way to discover new music. You can find Musicovery here.  Enjoy!
