Super Functionality – FREE!
Picnik is a free, fully featured online photo editor. You can upload images from your computer, pull them from Flickr, Facebook, MySpace, Photobucket, web pages, and others. Once your image is uploaded, you can:
- Crop
- Autofix
- Rotate
- Resize
- Adjust: exposure, contrast, sharpness, color saturation and temperature
- Fix redeye
There are also special effects available including sepia, B&W, posterization, negative images, and the like. The interface is simple and intuitive, and uploads and downloads are super quick. I was using Corel® Photo Album 6 previously, and I greatly prefer picnik!
There is a banner ad at the bottom of the Picnik screen (see below,) but I don’t find it much of a bother. A premium version eliminates the ads and adds extra functionality.

Read the Reviews!
Here are just a few Picnik reviews:
“Fast and impressive… beautiful and responsive…if you want to see how good a web application can be, take Picnik for a spin.”
—Walt Mossberg, Wall Street Journal
“…Picnik offers the editing capabilities of photo-editing software that costs $80 or more and also syncs up easily to your favorite photo-hosting sites…”
—www.pcmag.com, December 14, 2007
“There was a time when you really needed Photoshop, or some other installed software, to edit a photo. Picnik was one of the real standouts of this year, not only for its slick look and feel, but because it gives fantastic results without requiring users to know much at all about editing.”
—CNET Webware, “Hits and Misses of 2007,” December 2007
Give it a shot!
If you’re using a basic photo editing software package with limited functionality OR you find your current package to be overly complex or non-intuitive, give Picnik a whirl – it’s simply great!
