*Well, nothing’s free, right? But 4 Seasons Wine is offering a “Connoisseur” corkscrew set with a subscription to their wine club. The pitch: 12 bottles of wine (red, white, or mixed case) plus the corkscrew set for $69.99 + $19.95 shipping ($89.94) That’s $7.50 per bottle, not including the corkscrew; the corkscrew itself sells ~$50 (see below for more details and a link.) There’s no obligation to remain a member of the club – you can cancel anytime after receiving your initial shipment.
Here’s what the corkscrew set looks like; it comes in an attractive wooden box:

The set includes the corkscrew, a replacement screw, stopper, foil cutter, & wine pourer:

Here’s a closeup of the corkscrew itself:

The set sells for a little over $50 at amazon.com so the overall deal from 4 Seasons is pretty attractive.
My experience with 4 Seasons
I was a member of the 4 Seasons club a couple of years ago, and had opted for mixed cases. The wines in the first shipment were reasonably good, but I canceled after three shipments (which average about $10 a bottle after the initial offer.) (You are shipped 4 cases per year – hence the name – plus a special Holiday case.) It seemed to me – and YMMV – that the quality deteriorated a bit after the initial shipment. I canceled by sending in a letter; it was fairly easy, although if you opt for this offer I strongly encourage you to save ALL the paperwork you receive.
Here’s a link to the current offer at 4 Seasons. Enjoy!
P.S.: the corkscrew works great!
