One of the things I want to do with this blog is share things that I really enjoy, and this is is a good example. Carlos Santana recorded a couple of songs with John Lee Hooker during the late 80’s and mid 90’s. The first is “The Healer,” which was the title track for Hooker’s album released in 1989. The second is “Chill Out (Things Gonna Change)” which too was the title of a John Lee Hooker album, this one released in 1995. Both tracks appear on Hooker’s posthumously released “The Best of Friends” (2007) as well as Santana’s compilation album “Dance of the Rainbow Serpent” (1995) and of course both can be found on YouTube. This is the only live performance I’ve found – it’s a clip from an appearance on NBC from April 6, 1995.
